Arc Fault Detection Devices (AFDD) use microprocessor technology to analyse the waveform of electricity being used to detect any unusual signatures which would alert an arc on the circuit. as a result, the power will be cut off from the affected circuit.

  • Are AFDDs required in the wake of the Amendment 2 of the Wiring regulations?

The AFDD regulations introduced in March 2022, with the introduction of Amendment 2 of the 18th edition now place a requirement for installing arc fault detection devices in Residential Buildings that are deemed 'higher risk'.
